A Call to Action

This is a great article from the Dallas Observer that we’re sure will resonate with many of you. This article is so good, we’re issuing a CALL TO ACTION for all ATIP followers to offer praise for this story. The story and phone number for the editor are below, here’s a sample script.

Hello, my name is _____________ and I wanted to call to thank you for your story “Chronic Pain Sufferers Say They’re Pay the Price for the Opioid Epidemic.” I am grateful that your newspaper has been willing to tell a story that is being overlooked by many in the media. As someone with intractable pain, I empathized with the personal accounts in this story and have personally experienced being forced off the only medication that keeps me from living a functional life. I also know that suicides among the chronic pain community are only getting worse as states further clamp down on the prescribing of pain medications for legitimate medical conditions. Thank you again for running this important story.

Of course, you don’t have to stick to this script. Tell your story. But be brief. If you want any further tips, please let us know.
If you are asked if you’re from any organization, please mention ATIP and our Facebook page (ATIPUS). If asked to leave a message, you can use the script above or just simply say that you are calling to thank the Dallas Observer for the story (named above).

This is a simple step to encourage more stories of this type being told. It’s also an easy way for you to advocate on behalf of CPPs. We hope you take up this challenge. Please let us know if you do! Thank you all!
